Centre for Sustainable Delivery Winter Update

As we approach the festive season, the CfSD team would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Annual Plan and Priorities

We are delighted to share our Annual Plan for 2024/2025, which outlines our key strategic priorities for transforming healthcare delivery across NHS Scotland.

Our mission remains focused on driving redesign and transformation programmes that deliver sustainable improvements in patient care. This year’s priorities include:

  • Modernising Patient Pathways: Enhancing access and outcomes through sustainable changes to planned care.
  • National Elective Coordination Unit (NECU): Transitioning to an operational model to support Boards with planned care access.
  • Unscheduled Care: Developing best practices to improve the safety and timeliness of patient care.
  • Cancer Improvement and Earlier Diagnosis: Targeting late-stage cancer diagnoses, particularly in deprived areas, to improve outcomes.
  • National Endoscopy Programme: Supporting diagnostic recovery and renewal efforts.
  • Innovation Programme: Facilitating the adoption of transformative technologies through the Accelerated National Innovation Adoption (ANIA) pathway.
  • National Green Theatres Programme: Advancing environmental sustainability in hospital theatres to meet NHSScotland’s net-zero goals.
  • Planned Care Programme: Balancing demand and capacity to address waiting times for elective care.

These priorities reinforce our mission to design and implement optimal care pathways, deliver sustainable services, and share best practices across Scotland’s healthcare system.

Looking Ahead to the New Year

We look forward to sharing a more detailed update in January about how these initiatives are shaping the future of healthcare delivery.

From everyone at the Centre for Sustainable Delivery, thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a joyful and restful holiday season!

Warm regards,

The Centre for Sustainable Delivery Team
